I have an 84 camaro 305 v8... and my egr valve is sticking open. I went to autozone and it costs 62 bucks. Is a replacement necessary or is it possible for me to spray the thing up with carb cleaner and hope it "unsticks". Also in my stupidity I bought the wrong egr valve because i didnt look at the numbers and because it was 30 bucks cheaper. What will happen if I use this egr valve.. it seems to look like it would fit right on there but what would i be doing to my engine???

If it is seized, you may be able to free it up.................if the diaphragm is split, it is uekered.

It will run ok without it, but not as clean.

On the exhaust valve Diaphram what vacuum does it operate at?

pull the EGR off and use block off plates and cap the vaccume line. unless your EGR is electronically controled you dont need it. just make sure you block of the ports for it.
