I Need aluminum head help for sbc 350.I want to swap out my old heads??for new aluminum heads.Not really sure where to start?What Brands??I've heard of dart,edelbrock and afr..are there others I should be looking at?I dont want to spend a ton of money...600-1000.This is not for a race car..its for street driving.I believe my motor is a 94-97 crate motor.I'm looking for something I can bolt right on...no machine work.Can you guys give me some brands and part numbers to look at?And any other advice I need to know?Also what kind of hp gains am I looking at with new heads?Thanks bm

I'd check out the Edelbrock brand because of the 170 cc intake runner's if you just want something for an everyday driver and some performance right out of the box.:thumbup:

The AFR's are in the 12-1300 range...and a 3 month wait..
Trick Flow has the 23 degree heads in the under(just) 1000 range, they have pretty good flow numbers

If you are going to drive it on the street and aren't going to run above 11:1 compression, you may want to consider running iron heads. Aluminum heads actually make less power than cast iron heads. The weight savings aren't as dramatic as people make them sound.

I have Trick Flow aluminum heads on my 5.0. It is at 9.25:1 compression. That was somewhat of a mistake on my part. I bought the heads planning on rebuilding the bottom end of the engine. When I checked the condition of the engine it was in too good of condition to tear apart so I left it as it was, stock. If I was going to do it again I would have made it 11.5:1 to 12:1.

Cast iron heads make more power. They keep the heat in the combustion chamber where you want it. Aluminum allows you run run higher compression, and it also requires that you run higher compression to make up for it's losses.

Just some things to think about.

If I were to pick I would probably go with the entry level Trick Flow heads or the AFRs. The AFRs are more expensive, but flow better. Get at least 195cc intake ports.
