So, I have a 77 vette, pulled from a field, been a budget build all summer with tons of help and input from here....runs good, is tons of fun....but now I have an option to swap with another car....
Pluses to the vette are, its a vette....its reasonably quick, iys loud and abrasive. And its big fun.....negatives are...its hideiously ugly, needs paint bad bad, needs a Rad support, and the headlight support bar, the interior is ghetto painted and shows. Rear tires, u- joints, and some wiring.... and its 2 seater obviously.....and I have kids.....on the neutral side...my wife mostly hates it.....I have no issue fixing most of the problems, and enjoying it another summer....but looking for a possible change I got a option of this..
And I'm a bid dude, and love big cars, back seat, BBF, confirmed stock rebuild of 71 motor, 850 Holley, I'm thinking 370 gear, headers, cam, some port work on the exhaust side, and i would have a fairly quick, torque monster cruiser that I can shove the entire family in...and its unique....it would need to run 13's to make me happy, and at 4800 pnds I'm not sure how easy that would be...I am thinking black, the right wheels and stance, and it could look pretty sinister....so....a little help here, what would you do?

If the wife hates the vette, keep it,lol.A guy needs his alone time. The vette is hard to get in and out of,uncomfortable, noisy, abrasive, poor vis,obsolete,(1962 technology).
Lincoln is a tank, could go 13s and will burn a tonne of gas.Lincoln is different.
Im the wrong guy to ask, look what I drive,,,, either way, make it your own

Yah, frame is solid, the entire car is, it was a wiring headache, so it has a guage panel insert with all autometer guages, and the entire car is wired with a painless kit, elec fans etc etc, it has after market buckets and a b&m shifter in it now, it does have dove heads, its the orig motor from 71, so 10.5 comp, rated at 365hp and a ridiculous 500# of torque in stock form, its been rebuilt 30 over and thats about it, other then carb and intake its all stock, i would hope that gear, small converter, and the right cam and headers would get me into the 13's....and yah, I'm kinda gigantic and i love my vette, but suit me it does not lol.....if this barge went 13's for reasonably cheap, and does vicious burnouts, I would be happy....and I could actually take the kids in it, yah vinnie, wife hates the vette, but hates all my junk cause its loud, smelly, and attention whorish,so really, I will still get my alone time lol....but this would at least give me options....

I agree that the vette is worth more but you have to weigh your options with the family. Personally, I would wait to find something more suited to my hot rod thinking. Lincolns are very heavy and really bad on gas but do have tons of room................."son, you're gonna drive me to drinkin if you don't stop drivin that hot rod lincoln"................... Showing my age with that old song.

I was going to say go with the Lincoln... then I searched for a photo of your 'vette. I say keep the 'vette.

That sea foam green color on the Lincoln just looks wrong... IMO.

I would have ditched the vette when the first kid was born. I personally do not like the Lincoln, BUT there's nothing like packing the family into the car and going for a cruise- can't do that with a vette.

I love my Cutlass for that, and I'd recommend them, a Wildcat, a Chevelle, a Torino, etc. Something that's a muscle car with a backseat.

Vette wasn't around when the Kids were born, this is a new acquisition....that being said the vette is to obnoxious to get rid of I think, and i havrnt got it where it needs to be yet....and when i told my 14yr old my trade plan, he didn't think the Lincoln would be as cool in his high school parking lot when he starts driving....lol. So, I think the decision is made, get my heaters for the garage from the wife, and start round 2 of my welfare vette build....

This is Old George Colby's 71 Lincoln Continental stock HP 365 and 10.5 to1 compression, 5000 LB.'s! He was a dear friend of mine that passed away a little over a year ago! He was the sole owner of this car and loved it! Bowser liked it too LOL! This big boat with the 460 high compression and a 850 Holley D.P.er and a big solid cam really blew peoples minds Low 13s and on the street melted the tires. This car was rare, because of the PPG Glamor color and the special order vinyl top to match paint (dealer installed), being a 2 door, and a few extra options! Check and see if anything is special on that Lincoln! If not its just a big boat!

Old Georges Lincoln was the most comfortable car I ever road in! When it showed up at car shows women flocked to it LOL and would ask old George if they could just set in it!!!!!:D The men went to the Vette's LOL!

I own a hotrodded and mildly body custom'ed 77 L88 vette it weighed almost 3600# with the towing package! So far Ive stripped over 400# off it LOL! For Georges Lincoln Id trade! I don't know about you its your choice:thumbup:
