Ok so after much debate I finally swapped the trans in my '88 C1500 and got me a fresh TH350. I had a 700r4 in it at first tho. So now, I have a question. I've installed a speedo gear and housing with an electrical sender that's got 3 wires on the harness (black/white/red), but the harness on my OE speedo has only 2 wires (brown/yellow). So I was wondering, would I be able to cut the connector on the OE harness and just hook up the 2 wires to the 3 wire harness on the electric sender? If so, which wires would hook up to what? Thanks in advance for your help!

Cut the harness, no big deal. Cut it back about 6" in case you want to hook it up again.

I would guess yellow to white, purple to red and ground the black wire. :drunk:

Most aftermarket speed sensors will not work with factory speedometers. The speedometer sensor you have now is a 16 pulse sensor. I believe the factory speedometer sensor is a 8 pulse. What happened to the sensor from your 700R transmission? Did it have the sensor screwed to the speedometer gear housing?

Thanks, I forgot about the pulse business.

Sensor on the 700r4 would have not worked as it was screwed to the speedometer gear housing. Also the speedometer gear housing was much bigger in diameter versus the bullet style speedo gear housing in the TH350. Someone recommended a unit made by Dakota digital (DAK-SGI5) but it was a bit confusing to figure out how to make it work. The only reason I have the part I do now is because I wanted to cover the speedometer gear housing hole with something more reliable than the factory plastic plug they installed in it. Does anyone have any experience with the Dakota digital part?
