Hello: I am also considering one of Extreme Fiberglass Body kits. The 49 merc that is supposed to bolt onto a 79-90 Impala Frame. I am also curious to know if thier produsts have a good or bad reputation and if anyone would reccomend that this is a good project to consider. Any feedback is greatly appreciated. ED

Thansk 5 Widow for your quick reply. At this point I don't know if its worht while, Looks like when all is said and done I may be up in the high teens to lo 20's. An original is well in that price range since I'm looking for a daily driver. I guess with our Northeast winters I felt that this may satnd up better to the weather rather than original steel. Anyway got some homework to do.

I have had contact with Extreme Fiberglass Products for over a year now. The guy has good intentions BUT has yet to deliver. He promised a 49/50 Merc body well over a year ago and when I called him just last week he said that he still hadn't gotten the doors finished. Gene Winfield, the custom car builder, also builds 49/50/51 Merc bodies but I can't recommend his work either. I went to his shop and personally inspected his glass work and it was not acceptable for street use. There is another company chopped Merc body, CCCruisers, contact them at www.cccruzers.com. They had one of their bodies up for auction on ebay a few weeks ago. I haven't actually seen their work but the photos on their web site look good. I did call them on the phone last week and they seemed to know what they were doing and were eager to satisfy my requirements, but I would still have to go there and see one before I laid out that kind of money on a glass body. Oh by the way, CCCruisers is just down the road from Extreme. CCCrusiers is the company that Mr Merc endorses...

This seems to be a typical problem with several 'glass body mfg.'s. If you are looking at Deuces in 'glass, I'd reccomend Kilbourne in Kilbourne,Il., seen there stuff know a guy that deals with them regularly. We had intended to get one from them, but the shop move and the soon arriving Dearborn Deuce bodyhas it on hold for now. He doesn't take deposits, he said that he has enough orders that if you didn't want it when ready he just sells it to the next guy on the list, and his delivery time is as close to his promise as I've seen.

The Heritage 32 bodies are very nice and priced competetively. A friend of mine has one and is very picky and is very satisfied.
Caught someone's post about having had body from Extreme's molds befoire they were Extreme's molds.
Whose did they used to be? Either they are wornout molds from a currently alive company (that's bad!) OR they are molds from a dead company (that could be bad).
The biggest problem with fibreglass body manufacturers is delivery. The new companies are never bucks-up enough, or experienced enough, to produce inventory ahead of purchase money and some of the old companies are satisfied with their "crap" reputations and probably survive on "new Meat" not repeat business. It takes a long time to get a really good reputation in this business and a very short time to get a bad one! I often wonder if any of these characters have ever been in a retail business before (successfully) because there seems to be very little customer service in this business.
I do know that they either don't get any customer feedback or ignore it since so many flaws in design and workmanship go unchanged year after year!

i ordered a hood for my s10 on april 3rd and it is now may 12th and nobody can get a hold of anyone at extreme fiberglass to locate my hood so i wouldn't deal with them ever again. i was supposed to make it to a show on the 17th with the hood but it doesn't look like it's going to happen.
