I recently became a member of the hotrodding community, after a long love affair with muscle cars. I've purchased a 51 Plymouth Cranbrook, with 40K original miles. Very nice car, but its spent too much of its life being stock. First on the list is to lower it. I'm wondering if the IFS on the front of these cars is worth keeping for the long haul. I've seen that Fatman offers a dropped spindle, and several companies offer brake kits. If the stock suspension is worth it, I don't mind spending the money. But if its not going to cut it, than I may want to persue another ave. Also, does any one know of a dropped shackle for the rear. I'm looking for around 4" for the back. With a combo of hangers and blocks. And 4 1/2 to 5" in the front from coils and spindles.

What you do really depends on what your intentions for the car are...
The stock (rebuilt) suspension will work just fine with a couple of lowering tricks if all you want is a weekend cruizer...
If you need more performance as far as cornering and going fast is concerned then there are plenty of options out there that cost money and time...
What you need to do is sit down and work up a realistic plan for you and the car, factoring in the time and money elements, and make the decision if you would rather drive it or work on it...
