On my 77 Ford pick up,I had the same type
problem,It turned out to be a fusible wire
that ran out of the dash.I guess there had to be current from there to the reg.It was in the wire loom on the fender panel,Pass. side I hope this may help! (I also inst. a one wire alt. kit) and it works fine,so far
over 3 yrs.I know that is a NO NO but when
you are trying to cure a problem you do your best, ASAP. Jerry
