["70" Cougar]

my question is .. i just baught a 79 F250 4x4 and its on propain .. but it has a 429 and i was wondering if its stock for the truck.. i not sure but i didn't think that they made the 429 in to the mid-late 70's . So, is it stock or is it an addition?
