I recently installed an oil cooler on my sbc. my oil pressure is pretty high(60-65)in drive. (35-40)idling. Theres a small line of oil running down the filter. Im almost positive it is leaking for the filter to the cooler. Could high oil pressure make it leak or is it a defective cooler? If it is too high of pressure, how can i make this stop? Tnx for any help

fairly new cooler? call or e-mail the manufacturer and let them guide you.

reason: lose your oil, you hurt the motor very quickly

35 at idle, 65 driving is pretty normal for a healthy engine.

Before you tear it down, try changing the oil filter. Every now and then, we'd get one that wasn't crimped properly.

Rare, but possible. Beats tearing it all out, for nothing.

Ive tried 3 different oil filters. So far the K&N works the best and is not leaking as much.

when you installed the cooler, did you make any sharp bends in the plumbing?

Nope, the lines are almost a straight shot to my radiator.

I can only think of three other things at the moment. Defective cooler. Maybe a glob of solder dislodged and plugged outlet. An other; the part the oil filter screws to has a pressure relief valve built in. It may be clogged. The last; check tightness of bolts before you remove it. Loose bolts might be the problem all by itself.
