Gauge

Doc here :pimp:

Is the gauge Electric?

Electrics hold their last reported position when off...When you turn the key on without Start, it should go to zero.

If you always start off as 50 lbs when key is on, but not running, then it climbs from there, You most likely have a defective or wrong sender unit, Disconnect the sender and see if it "Zero's", that will tell you right off if it's wrong or bad.

If mechanical, replace the gauge and plumbing.

Hope it helps!
