My "DuPont" base paint says to clear coat within
24 hours. I understand from reading this forum that
giving a little extra time for the solvents to dry before
topcoating gives better results, makes sense to me.
My question is will waiting the full 24 hrs (by waiting
the next day to topcoat) have any drawbacks like
risking good adhesion? And will painting in cool weather
broaden my window for recoating?
Thanks.

Welcome. Being new to the site, you need to be sure to read the "Read Me' posts at the beginning of each forum. The ones here for example recommend that you just post a general introduction here and post tech questions in the appropriate tech forum. This will give you the best chance for a good answer.

You will hear many different opinions. My advice is follow the manufacturer's directions. I clear coat according to the tech sheet and have never had a paint problem. Can't vouch for the 'custom methods' you will read here, But I wouldn't try them.
