You can loosen the bolts to free up the bendix. It is sticking. You also need to check the clearance between the starter gear and the ring gear of the flexplate.
i have already tried that. i have also tried shimming it every way possible, a new starter, new flywheel, and even replaced my main bearings thinking that my crank might have moved out of place just enough to hang it up but nothing has worked \m/
it hangs up on my flywheel the whole time even after i shut the engine off. it just constantly keeps grinding and i have to force it to go back into the starter. right now i have the engine sitting on a stand and i have ran out of ideas...
no it's just a normal starter nothing fancy or anything, but i don't the back brace for it. could that possibly be it? and i have gone up to five shims!! and thought that was way plenty considering if i went any higher my bolts would barely fit
