Can someone give me some idea of how you mask for powder coating. I am assuming that regular masking tape will not hold up to the heat. I have some parts that i want to do but need to keep the threads free of paint.

There is a special tape, along with silicone plugs and caps for holes and studs.....check with any powder coat powder vendors on the web, they usually have a listing for the stuff you need.

Regular masking tape will just turn brown, I never worried about it
Same goes for cardboard, I'd stick bolts through cardboard and powder coat the heads
When I powder coated my wheels I had a wood cross, dry wheel bearing and wood cone setup for turning the wheel
Smoked the wood, never affected the powder coat

ogre, thanks for the info, as I commented earlier, I just ordered some of the high temp tape but I will experiment with the regular tape as well.
When you stick the bolts thru cardboard do you string a wire to each and ground all of them together or do you move the clip from bolt to bolt for better conductivity?

Just weave a wire, it also stiffened up the cardboard
