powerglide problem or stall converter?

i have a 468 9:1 comp
3000-5000 cam aprox
28-32 stall
my powerglide in 1 gear goes to 6000 with the brake on and in drive 3000 (so it works good in drive)
why does it do that in 1 gear
do i need a smaller stall?
i have a eternal tranns cooler do i need to add more fluid
it worked fine before the stall was 1800

Check low gear band adjustment it may be off causing this.

when i adj the power band to 72 lbs then back out 3 1/2 to 4 turns
is the high band set internally?
how do i know if it rubs aginst the drum?

and does that efffect the high band second gear or does it

anybody know about this

the low band is tightened to 72 inch pounds... then 3.5 turns out.

there is no high gear band. High gear is a clutch pack

she launches like a rocket now
