I have a 67 camaro with the original p/g tranny in it, the previous owner says it was rebuilt,

My question is, when the car is sitting in park you can push it foward about a foot before it makes it a clicking sound than rolls back to the original position.

Im no tranny wiz or anything, but there has to be something wrong here correct ?? or do p/g do this ?

If there is a problem what may it be ?

you need to check the shift linkage to the tranny to make sure it is fully engaging the tranny into "park".

If the linkage is good... then the tranny pan needs to come off for a look-see

It's been a few years, but if I remember right, the PG had a strange linkage set-up. They had a spring loaded linkage arm on the trans, that would cause problems if the spring was not in place. There was also a nylon pivot ball on the other end of the shaft, with a spring. The pivot ball was a point of wear over 20 years ago. If the llinkage points were worn or not in place right, they would not go into park properly. As basic as they are, they seldom had problems going into the other gears enough where you would notice.

I would raise the car on jack stands(or lift) and check the linkage as Crosley suggested. If the linkage appears OK, disconnect it and see if you can put the trans in park manually. If you cannot get it to go into park that way, it will need to have the pan removed to see what the problem is.

Hope this helps.
