Hey everyone this is my first post to this board and i love it, very helpful. Anyways I'm still learning a lot about this stuff. My car still has the factory paint job and its in great shape. The problem is that my clear coat is coming off on the hood and trunk of the car. As I said before the color coat is still good. Is there a way to just take off the clear coat and leave the color, and then recoat with clear? I was thinking maybe wet sanding would work? Well let me know what you guys think.

If the clear has been coming off for a little while chances are that the base coat has already been damaged by UV. Trying to remove the rest of the clear probably wouldn't help much since the base needs to be re-sprayed anyway. The damaged spots would show if you just sprayed clear without a new coat of base to cover the damaged areas. The correct way to fix this is to sand the clear off, prep the surface, spray a new coat of base and then follow that clear.
