Knowing nothing about carbs,what is meant by knocking out plugs on a q-jet to tune it,mine on my 81 TA is running rich and a buddy said he can tune it by doing that,and it will give a little better reponse and fuel saving.Thanks all.

You can do that....and its a good idea to be able to adjust the idle screws.....BUT, its not going to make it not run rich. Those screws are only to adjust the fuel/air mix at idle. Once you step on the gas, the run circuit kicks in and those screws dont come into play anymore. To lean it out a bit you need to get different metering rods, or smaller jets. I am not a Quad expert, so I cant say which metering rods to recommend, but I am sure someone here can tell us.
