Need a little understanding regarding the adjustable vacuum canister on my new/repop HEI distributor.

It was my understanding (wrongly possibly) that turning the Allen adjustment would allow one to reduce the total advance that the canister would add.

But on the one I have, turning the Allen either way seems to make no difference in the total advance pull.

Is this adjustment meant for adjusting rate of pull by spring tension?

I am needing to knock a little off the total advance pull.

The adjustaable cacuumwukk incease or decrease how fast the cacuum advance changes the timing,I am not familiar with the Mechanical advance in your distributor but the old GM the tatal was limited by putting a sleeve over the stop tab or grinding the weights sotheycouldnot pust as much,, Old school
