I don't know if they are the quietest but, I made the change from Hooker Aerochambers to Borla Sportmans, while they are a little pricey they were quiter. I actually had two mufflers on each side bulets and Aerochambers and the car was still too loud, I know have just the single Borla on each side and it is quieter. This is ona 388ci supercharged small block Chevy.

I have heard the dynomax mufflers are quiet as well.

I have an article saved on my home computer that compares about ten of the leading brands, I'll post it when I get home.

Dynomax Hemi Super Turbos were the quietest in the testing and I believe the best performing. They aren't very expensive either, about $43 a piece from Summit or Jegs.

I haven't seen you post in a while Camaroman, glad to see you're back. Hows the Camaro running? Did you get it to the track?

I've read articles concluding this same information, and I had a pair of 3" offset inlet/outlet on my 81' Camaro once. They are very quiet at idle and cruise, with a nice mellow note at WOT.

However, if ground clearance is an issue, do NOT get these. They are nearly 6" tall at the midpoint. Edit - Not sure about 2.5", but the 3" are about 6" tall.

I have since installed Flowmaster 50 Series Delta Flow mufflers and am very happy with the sound qualities. Plus, they give you about 1.5" more clearance.

Good luck, Ed www.edgesz28.com

Ghetto Jet,
Glad to be back too, thanks. I will be stopping in more often now, just been real busy. The Camaro ran awesome never made it to the track. Traction would have been a major issue. I just sold the rolling car a couple weeks ago. I kept the drivetrain, exhaust, ignition and it will be going into my 1961 Buick Skylark. I was bored with the Camaro and there are just too many out there, I wanted something different. I hope to have it finished by early sumer 2005. I will definetly make it to the track in that, once I really get started on it I will post pictures.

Here's a PDF file with Dynomax Super Turbo size & flow data. The one known as the "Hemi Super Turbo" is pn 17749. It is 4.25" thick, & has 2.5" inlet & outlet.

The "street, sport, race" thing is relative loudness. The number after that is air flow at 1.5"Hg. The two numbers below that are horsepower capability in single/dual systems.

I used a set of 18" Goerlich Xcelerator mufflers on a 400 sbc with 2.5" exhaust all the way back from the headers and I am pleasantly surprised with the low/deep exhaust note with relatively low noise level. They are the quietest performance muffler I've heard with excellent flow numbers.
