Use pressure treated wood blocks as spacers .
Won't that look wrong sitting higher?
The bed sides are going to be stock height
Just the floor needs to be raised. Larry

well, you did ask about raising the bed to clear the hump, not raising the bed floor
i'm gonna go out on a limb and say this is for a C-notch "hump", since it's a stepside, it's very easy to raise the floor. just weld in 1.25" angle iron 3" up on the bed sides and raise the rest of the structure with pressure treated wood. i'm more familiar with chevy beds than ford beds, but i assume they are similar in that the bed wood supports the bed.
this is a fleetside bed, but the support is the same, angle welded higher and blocks under the bed sills. you end up with a goofy filler when the tailgate is down

you can also just raise the bed section over the axle, i'm finding fleet beds only

Thanks bedsides are new and have the angle spot welded to the sides.
Unless you need the clearance for the rear center section, why not just modify the wheel tubs to clear the wheels and then you don't have an odd looking bed with a step at the back or a hump in the middle. I'm doing a 56 Chevy pickup and I wanted a steel bed instead of wood. Found a good one in an 89 Chevy and cut it to fit. Had a friend bend some steel 90 degrees by 6' long and about an inch on each leg. Kinda like angle iron but looks a little nicer. Welded it where the floor meets the sidewalls. Will have it finished with a professional sprayin liner . Probably Bullet or LineX. That should seal the thing real well and give it a good finish.
I,d like to put in steel bed also. Like your general idea. Step in the back won't bother me. Have to post picture. Thanks Larry
