Help,
The rear electrical trunk latch stopped working. I did not see a dedicated fuse in the manual. If I hook a VOM to the elec. contacts and press the unlock keypad and get a voltage spike it would mean that the selenoid is bad. If no voltage the wires are bad. Correct?

This is general response not specific to that model.
If you get a 12 volt pulse at the wiring connector at the solenoid it is likely the solenoid is bad. Verify this by connecting an ohmmeter to the solenoid. If you get no reading through the solenoid (coil) that would confirm a bad solenoid.
If you do not get a 12 volt pulse at the solenoid wire connector there are a number of things that could be wrong.
This is likely a computer controlled device that is disabled under certain conditions. For example: car in gear, trunk lid open (bad switch) or security system activated etc.
The circuit is fused and could be combined with some other devices like power door locks.Testing the fuses requires a test light or meter. A shop manual will help.

Wires very rarely go bad but the connections do.

You can verify the soleniod is good/bad by using a couple of jumper wires and testing it that way. If the soleniod is good, check the connector for 12v, if that is a no-go, check the wires where they bend at the hinge end (inside the rubber boot) and work your way back to the switch...... as Vic suggested the fuse is the 1st place to start, and it's prob tied in with the pwr door locks etc.....
