I wouldn't do anything until a pressure check. Don't know if you have access to a set of a/c gauges but you can make a gauge for pressure check by using the low side gauge, sometimes has a blue cover on the back of it. It'll read 0 to 300 psi on the outer scale. A quick trip to the hardware store for some 1/8 male barbed & a 1/8 barbed female fittings an some high pressure hose.

Stuarta is hinting that you may have broken the pump during install. There is another easy way to test the broken pump theory.. Check fluid level with engine off. Mark the stick exactly where the fluid level is. Now, start the engine and check the fluid level again. A properly working pump will result in a reading that is LOWER on the stick than the reading achieved with the engine off. If the readings for engine on, and engine off, are the same, the pump is broken.

Are you sure you have enough fluid in it? How many quarts were added at time of installation? With a new converter (stock type) it will take 12 quarts. With a 10" high stall converter, it should take approximately 10.
