DOES ANYONE KNOW THE BEST WAY TO REMOVE FILM WINDOW TINT?

A razor blade scraper and glass cleaner. Scrape off the tint and clean the glass with the cleaner. Don't know of any other way myself.

Yep, blade scraper, but I don't think window cleaner will get off the glue. Carb cleaner gets off the glue, but with spot the glass, which is not good. I think somebody said mineral spirits will remove the glue, but I don't know about that.

I removed window tint on a truck of mine a few years back, I bought a "Window Tint Removing Kit" from Autozone or PepBoys. It included a razor blade holder, a couple of blades, a cloth, and window tint adhesive remover. The kit was under $10. You had to peel the film off, and then of course the window is covered in the sticky leftover adhesive. Spray the adhesive remover on the window, let it sit for about 10 minutes, then it comes off REALLY easy with the razor blade and then clean up with the cloth.

DeWalt high speed grinder and a 36 grit disc. That'll remove the residue. Just kidding!!Don't go and try that. WD40 would probably also work.

The best way to remove tint, peel of the tint. to loosen it up heat up a corner with a hair dryer and work with it until the tint is off. (the heat will losen the glue).

any glue remover will work. after you remove the tint and glue use Dow bathroom cleaner on the window to get the film off. The you can use window cleaner. Then your set to go.

One note. push down on the inner belt,(the rubber that runs along the inside of the wondow). so it will tuck under the door pad. that way it's out of the way. and the old glue don't get on it.

On a rear window with rear defrost. That's going to be real tuff. Have somebody on the outside use a heat gun and somebody on the inside pulling off the tint.(be carefull and not pull the defrost wires away from the window, they will break). If you use a razor blade on the back window you will cut the defrost wires.

Vinigar, really. I've done it twice.Use a scraper and soak a rag in vinigar.

there is actually a very easy way to remove the tint, albeit it works best in the summer time or in a paint booth. you spray the inside of the windows with water and detergent (remember when you put the tint on, the water detergent mix soaked into the glue and made it non-sticky?) well this is in reverse.

you cover the tinted areas with the water/detergent and cover that with black plastic (garbage bags works fine) and let it sit in the sun for a couple of hours, that way the water slowly difuses through the thin film and softens the glue, and tadaa... you can pull the tint right off

just be carefull to do it slowly and in a 90 dagree angle from th ewindow, that way the glue comes off with the tint, and dont let it tuch the window again as the glue will leave residue.

i have tinted windows for years and the best way i have found to get it off is go to wal-mart and get some stuff called tint off it is in the wutomotive by the tint spray it on around the edges of the tint let it set a few minutes and get a razor blade and start scraping you have to keep spraying the tint off every few minutes to keep loosening the glue but it easy and fairly quick hope this helps good luck

Hello,i do this all the time when redoing window tint for people.1 peel the tint off 2 get a squirt bottle and rubbing alcohol.3 squirt it on the window and as the glue turns white scrape it off with a razor blade be sure to have paper towels handy you will need them!You will have to keep it wet while doing so. this works great for me and it doesn't take very long at all.

I had a `83 Z28 rear window to do. With the rear defrost. I was able to peal away the film itself without any problem, but this left the "glue". I called around to a few shops and they suggested several different thing. All were taking to long. I USED OVEN CLEANER. No joke. Sprayed it on, waited a few and took a paper towel to it. CLAEN AS CAN BE.....no damage was done to the glass or the defroster. I have done it several times since and will continue to do so.

Alcohol (Rubbing)
Razor blades
More Alcohol
Rags (not paper towels as it sticks once the glue starts to get sticky again)
Even more alcohol
Done
Then some alcohol for yourself as you look through a perfect piece of clean glass....
Alcohol works the best - had to pull of tint from a Corvette that sat in the uncovered sun here in Tampa.....Trust me..

I have never used a heat gun to remove tint so I am not sure of those methods. Whenever I remove tint I peel the old tint off, and use an ammonia based cleaner(50/50 mix with water works well). I spray the glue with the mixture and let it set for a few minutes the wipe clean with a towel. Do that twice and then clean with regular glass cleaner and you should be set. If you still have some spots where the glue will not come off use a razor blade and spray and scrape the window...do not scrape a razor across dry glass it will scratch it.
If you read the destructions that come with the tint or on Ammonia-based glass cleaner it will tell you that the 2 do not mix. If you clean window tint with ammonia cleaner it will eat the tint/glue.
Don't make a simple job too difficult...

If you have Avon products where you live get some "Skin So Soft". This and a razor scraper will remove
any glue from your windows after you peel the tinted
film off.

It's used mostly in printmaking and
great for stuff like this if you can get your

Finger nail polish remover works good.It's the acetone that does it.You can get a big bottle for a buck.Smells like your kid sisters room for a while.

my buddy who a tint shop in vegas and tints for major dealerships sez" put car in sunny location and spray 409 on windows and cover w/black trash bag. heat causes film to loosen and peals right off. now why didnt i think of that???
