I know this is going to turn out to be obvious but I've gotten everything removed from the dash except the cig lighter. I almost pulled a ****** and got my head stuck in hole where the guage cluster was trying to see if there was some trick to it. No luck...

The bezel and the assembly both spin freely but do not loosen and there are no pins or screws like in the other switches.

If it like a FORD... :D ... the lighter body screws onto and is retained by the outer bezel. Hold the bezel while unscrewing the body from behind.

And don't do like I did once and think the lighter isn't working after it pops out and I put my thumb on the element to change it... :(

Took years for my prints to return...

What helps sometimes is use a small curvered needle nose pliers. hook the pliers into the slots inside the lighter, while holding the base from behind turn the pliers.

worst case, If all else fails. take some pliers and straighten out the lip then pull it out from behind. You can always buy a new lighter.
