Hello,

Currently building a modified 48 Chevy Pickup with 350 V8 engine and g body subframe.

While working on the front suspension, I'm trying to decide whether to use the 1" front sway bar that is currently on the vehicle or replace it with something else.

It's been years since I drove the truck, but I do remember it having a fair amount of roll while cornering (of course the shocks were blown and I have no clue about the shape of the coils).

Will the 1" bar be suitable while using the 350? I'm not looking for super high-performance, just a safe and comfortable ride

It really depends on what kind of ride you want if you want a sport style ride where it will give minimal roll and hug corners start off with the one you have and also put one in the rear if you want a loose ride change to a smaller one or take it off.

I went from a 7/8" on the front of a GMC Sprint (Elcamino) with a small block and I always thought that was a little mushy on turns. Went to a 1-1/8" with urathane bushing and it handled like a slot car and was much more fun to drive. I also put a 7/8" sway bar out back. That had coils out back though. These were all stock parts too. I think the biggest stock front one avalible was 1-1/4". I might be wrong but if you keep an eye out for a A body front sway bar it will also work on your G body front clip. Check on Team Camaro. You may find one there.
