We've seen dual centrifugal superchargers, dual roots and obviously twin turbos. But why has no one done centrifugal and a root supercharger, you would get boost through the entire RPM range...

I guess im asking for two reasons, one being I have a vortech centrifugal but would love the root sound and the low end a root gives you. But being that I already have a vortech I would like to keep it in place! and secondly my inner child questioning why no one has done something his ridiculous and cool

The only limitation I see is if a root does not allow additional air to pass through it, or would a quick fuel blow through carb not function on the low end?

thoughts!?

Why there doesn't seem to be any roots/centrifugal setups around, I can't really say. But there's not a lot doubling up blowers can do that a single stage blower can't do as well, but for less money, less complication, less weight, and less heat. That said, some WWII aircraft used dual stage supercharging and there was a VW inline 4 that used a turbo/supercharger setup in racing, and then there was Dobbertin's creation (twin turbo/twin roots blowers. And nitrous):

One does it. I have boost all through. The blower is connected to the crank. I had the opportunity to try a turbo kit and jrsc kit on the same vehicle. Turbos do not have the infinitely larger feeling off the line.

I like the eatons. They are for the most part silent.

Fun stuff.

a quick and easy comparison would be the LNF vs the LSJ engines from Chevy, though there are some other minor variances beside the turbo/supercharger.

BTW, there are two minor things wrong with your question- 1) "boost" doesn't matter, "mass flow" is what you're after 2) you assume that a properly matched turbo comes in a kit Almost all kits use common shelf stock turbos that are NOT optimised for any particular combo- similar to a "white box" cam- it'll be close enough for most people but not a perfect match. Matching a turbo is FAR easier than matching a supercharger btw.

that depends on what turbo is used.

There is very little if anything that a blower can do that a turbo can't do as well or better.

The trick is building the right turbo for the job.
That could be true up to a point. But if it were true all the way across the board, then why don't they use turbos in Top Fuel and Funny Car instead of blowers....

We need a kid now to come in and tell us about his 40 psi whatever. I love that. Some johnny wants to go faster, claiming with only 10 psi boost more and 10 degrees duration, he made 300-400 more whp than your build.

I don't see it here a lot . greatful for that, I can take so much.

And make no mistake AP is a sharp cracker. He knows. I read his posts.
