I have a 1989 325i bmw when it sit at a idle it run hot but when i start driving it the temp goes down to cold almost. i put a new water pump,fan clutch and thermo in it.

Did you verify the gage reading with a thermometer? Does your cars cooling system use a air bleed? It may be possible there is air in the cooling system...russ

Sounds like you need a fan shroud...........Does or did it have one?

OR...the rad is getting plugged.

yes it have a shroud. I put a new radiator in it seem like that is doing the job.
