I'm building a 302 for my T bucket and I was just given a 1964 289 with C4 transmission. I was wondering if there was anything from the 289 that would be usefull on the the 302. I would say no as the valves are smaller and the stroke is shorter. What about the 302 heads on the 289? The 289 is from a 1964 Galaxie and the block only has five bolts to connect to the belhousing. Is it rare? Maybe worth some $$$?? Or is it just obsolete? I have the matching five bolt bellhousing and transmission, but I think I can use the transmission on the 6 bolt bell housing I also have.
Thanks

I believe the 289s before 67.5 used the 5 bolt bellhousing pattern as compared to the standard for 302s which came in 68 on. Not really rare, but different.
The heads on the 289 will swap with the 302 but other than that, not much.

The 289 had the 5-bolt pattern up until '65 when Ford went to the 6-bolt pattern.

Someone looking at a correct restoration may be interested in the 5-bolt.
