So I did something that will cause a lot of anger among both Chevy Lovers and Ford fanatics, I installed an SBC 350 on my 1963 Falcon after some mods it fit. how ever after only 2 months on the road with it the engine failed forcing me to buy another engine. 2 weeks in with this engine it began to overheat after only 5 minutes of idling it begins to overheat. brand new everything radiator short water pump head gaskets already checked, I cant seem to explain this. and it also makes a rattling sound when I try to accelerate. any help will be appreciated.. and I know i will get those ugly comments about the conversion.

Rattleing sound: too much timing. Overheat idling: Not enough air flow throught the radiator or the radiator is not big enough. Does it cool down when you start driving? if so you need more fan or a shroud to help direct airlow. Please, no pusher electric fans.

what rad
you probably can't get away with using a ford rad with a chev motor. they flow in opposite directions. it would be like running your water pump backwards. you'll be pumping hot water in the motor and cold water out. rattling can be caused by detenation on an overheated motor. wiped out cam will act the same way. if you have chev rad. pull valve covers off and see if all the valves are going up and down. more rare case scenario is the balancer spun on the dampener rubber ring and your timing is way out of whack.
