I'm looking at a street rod project, a '53 Chevy 210 on a '69 Chevelle V8/AT frame. I plan to make this car a reliable daily driver in the future. I'd like to keep the engine stuff under $1500 if possible.
After a lot of research, I've decided to go the route of a 3rd Gen (82-92) Camaro/Firebird TPI 350 setup. Now, I definitely want to use fuel injection and an overdrive tranny (5 or 6 spd) but I can't really decide what to do about the engine. Should I buy a junkyard motor with all of the wiring, ECM, etc, and then get it rebuilt? Or is it possible to get a Crate motor and then bolt on a "junkyard" TPI intake setup? I have mixed feelings about buying an eBay engine or similar sight-unseen...any help is appreciated!
