I am fixing to buy a stall converter for my 406 sbc with a turbo350 transmission and I was wondering if i have the small or large bolt pattern. I wasn't sure if the externally balanced 400 plate only had a certain one. If not how would i measure and find out.

Large flexplates are 14” in diameter, and have 168 teeth. Small diameter flexplates are 12-3/4” in diameter and have 153 teeth.

There is a flex plate for the large 14" converters and another for everything else with 168 teeth. Just went thru this. I'm not sure what the big flexplate and converter comes on but the aftermarket stuff is on the smaller bolt circles. Most converters have a dual bolt pattern. I had to get a new flexplate. About 18 bucks. Get good bolts too if you don't have them.
