I know this sounds really stupid, but.....I put a 283 in my 49 chevy PU and it did not come with a fuel pump on it. There was a cover plate on it. I assume the guy was running an electric. Anyways my question is this..I bought a new mechanical pump from a guy on craigs list, it is one of those beefy ones. No brand name on it though. When mounted, is the inlet towards the rear, or the front? I am remembering the front from my prior dealings years ago with my suburban (which I no longer have). Thanx in advance...Brad...

it kinda points forward some

the fuel hose comes off the frame rail hard line and connects to it there.

you must be talking aftermarket here

on stock ones they always only point in the same direction

some aftermarket ones might be positionable

make itpoint in whichever direction needed as to not cause a kink in the frame rail hose
