Are the original SBC twisted wedge heads with the tilted inlet valve worth investing in?

I plan on putting them on a 383 that I'll be putting together..

Or should I just from the beginning on invest in a new set of heads, like new TFS or AFR?

Will the old ones provide as much power as the newer ones?

If the angled intake valve was a good idea, how come it is not made anymore???

Thx :)

I have a set of the original SBC Twisted Wedge heads in the shop now. While I think the idea of the tilted intake valve had promise, I don't think it panned out as well as was hoped. To take advantage of the heads, different pistons were needed and I don't think the advantage was worth the cost of designing and producing them. In other words, There just wasn't enough gain over well-designed "normal" heads.

What do you think about the Twisted Wedge SBF heads?
My guess would be that they are probably more successful than the SBC heads. Perhaps it's because there is a little less competition in the Ford head arena. Somebody with a flow bench could check it out.

so, I would also need a set of matched pistons....

I think that I'll stick to the newer heads..., which doesn't need special pistons...

Thanks!
