i saw this on ebay today: a 70 Z28 with the bidding already up to $31,500. this car looks just like mine except i havent done a frame off. there are a few other upgrades too, i think aftermarket discs, and new control arms etc. but i think my car would be very close. this is what makes me think i should sell it now while the paint is fresh. one single rock chip could cost me thousands!!!! i still have to paint my trunk and i will be undercoating the whole sled, just due to the weather. (before i replace the bushing, ball joints and body mounts) but at the price of new cars, even a new 2005 mustang gt, which i think i'd like actually driving better, i could just as well drive the crap out of this and to hell with rock chips. the way these prices seem like they are going it will be worth 30K in five years with f'd up paint. maybe more who knows. this is just because my car is a real SS with matching #'s mill. non SS's or Z cars are so much cheaper, just like anything else. after it gets undercoated i have to get two new front tires. i have to keep the original rims even tho i dont care for them i think they look okay. i have all the original parts to this car: intake, dist., air cleaner, ex. manifolds etc. but i did add the spoiler and change the color. who wants placer gold anyway? all new white interior just have to change the carpet. also have the inst. package dash insert to put in as well. with less than a thousand i think my car will be the equal of this one on ebay. i will be changinig the body mounts as well. i hope to get the Performance Suspension front end package and have my friend put it on.

btw, i should be picking up my camaro today!! the bad news is i have a one car garage. i have to park my tempest outside from now on!!!! oh my god, at least i have an awning that covers most of the car, but it will be seeing alot more rain. i hope i can get enough money to get one of those Costco canvas garages!! soon!!!!

i also got out of my hyundai deal because my credit fell thru. A-holes!!! god i hate dealers!!! nothin queers a deal faster than not being able to pay for it. hahaha! for once i'm glad i'm in debt! hahaha!!! effers!! (why when i have a camaro? well it gets 10 mpg. my truck, (just got frame fixed today too!) gets even less. i need something that gets 30 mpg. today is a good day. hell it's a great day. too bad it's raining!!! (but with only one eye still i can only see half as much rain) hey, how come you cant say ****? (tha'ts mo---fo)

that's what the bidding is up to already, not his asking price. reserve has been met. all i can say it has going for it over mine is it was originally painted Hugger orange. but as you know, they didnt BB/CC them back then

IMO the 70 Z28 with the RS nose is the coolest Camero ever. You see literally thousands of firsr gens for every one of those you will ever see. Ans and since it was a half year production it makes them ever more scarce. Then by 71-72 the death toll had sounded and they aren't many of those either. But the price of those sure doesn't make a 79 worth any more than a high school kid can make flippin burgers.
I'd like to see pictures of your 70, I love the round tailight/chrome bumper 2nd gens. Especially with the RS snout.

YEAH, bc/cc, don't forget i got one eye. hey. i would link you to that but you can just put 70 camaro in search once you get to ebay then click on passenger vehicles. there are only about 15. i would link you but the guy posted 80 pictures and it takes forever to download, so i erased the link. it is a Z-28 and mine is "only" an SS. so his car would be worth alot more just for that. 72 was a strike year and fewer were made all around than 70 i think. either way his car is way nicer than mine right now. hey, i'd love to look at your grill, i'm on my way. burgers for lunch?

Hey Bull If you get a canopy ,, be damn sure you anchor it REAL good,,, I HAD 2 of those ,[,one covering my 69 Bonneville,, and the other one with my 68 Caddy,],, Both left the county Sunday in the high wind that blew through in the middle of the night,,,luckly the wind just picked them streight up and over,, and didn't damage either car,, except for some minor scraches that can be buffed out,, completely distroyed the covers tho,,, I think the frames might still be ok,, anyone know if its possable to buy the canvas only??? altho it is probably cheaper to buy the whole enchalada at cosco,,

I had them anchored pretty well [ at least I thought I did] I had 2x6 boards laying flat with the bases bolted to those and then 18" rebar driven down in the ground to anchor the boards,, it just ripped the whole mess out,,

You have a great looking Camero there dude,,It will surely go up in value,, keep it as a # matching car, at least to the point where you can easly put it back to a #'s car,, if you change it at all,,

Oh! yeah,,, as for your other thread about the paint job,,, for what it worth,,, I think you got a decent deal on the paint job,,thats alot of work and 45$ hourly is really a fair price,,
we paid the painter 14K for the body and paint work on the 33 coupe we just finished,,,and 16K for the interior,, sure would be nice to have that kind of disposable income wouldn't it?? This is a good reason that the rat rod craze is big

Sam- Did you check the Journal? That grill has YET to see a burger or a dog. It HAS seen racks upon rack of ribs, 3 turkeys at once, trays of scallops with bacon wrapped around them, grilled shrimp by the 10# bags! Anything but burgers,sausages & dogs. Too plain and mundane for my brother. He even does PIE on the darn thing!! Check out the '73 Z-28 were hanging quarters on. (Last few photos) Beastly !

For what its worth, 69 brings the most. Followed by 67&68. Big cash for JUNK. 70 is the last year that brings any value. You know I'm always straight with ya Sam, but I'de be hardpressed to see any 72 and newer bring over 15K. Even with Killer paint like yours. I hope you do get big $, though. For what you go through.....you deserve 6 figures!

I think the right SS would be worth just as much as a Z. I remember seeing a couple 1970 SS396 cars when they were new but I haven't seen one in years so they might be more rare that a Z28. I don't know if they ever made an SS454 Camero, I've never seen one.
I had a 70 Chevelle SS396 (402) and it was a pig so if the Camero's used the same engine, which I'm sure they did, then I would rather have the LT-1.

yeah you're right the big block SS's always take all the marbles. i know they made 70 SS big block camaro's because my friend Charlie Hand had one, i think it was a 396 (402) but don't remember. i wonder how many of you know that they never made a SS Chevelle in 1970 with a small block in it? in other words, all of them were big blocks. 1971 was a different story tho. i found out when i was going to clone my 70 with a 350. bought a restoration book and found that out, so i sold the car. PEACE OUT BRO'S IIM ON MY WAY TO GET MY CAMARO AND MY TRUCK FROM THE FRAME SHOP! they even got it running for me and put the windshield back in. all for little over $500!:thumbup: check my journal later when i post some pics of both. imp: :thumbup:

DAMN IT! i couldnt get enough money up for the camaro. i gave him some and some more today but still owe like 3K. i couldn't get a bank or a casino to cash my t rowe price check. gotta wait ANOTHER 5 WORKING DAYS! AHHHHHHHHHHHHJ!!! BUT I DID GET MY TRUCK!!:thumbup: GOD after 2 months in a gutless izusu that couldnt wind above 3500 rpm and got 10 mpg doiing it i am soooo glad!!!! they fixed like EVERYTHING for $570!!!! pulled the dent out of the fender! connected the clutch linkage!!! told me my bell housing wasnt cracked after alll!!!! re-installed my windshield!!!!! pulled the front fender away from the pass. side door!!! FIXED THE FRAME!!! (Obviously since thats what it was there for). picked it up and drove it awayj!!!! I think all the SS Chevellles from 66-70 were big blocks. The SS 350 was just 71 and newer. That was when Chevy kind of went into the stripes and stickers stuff will all the Heavy Chevy and Rallye Nova. I don't think there was anything special about the 71 SS 350, just the blacked out accents and emblems. Everything else about it could be had on any Chevelle. I had a friend who had a 71 SS350 with a 3 speed and I had a 64 Cutlass with a 290 horse 330 and a 4 speed. He always gave me a good run.
