AFter having taken a break from here..

I'm looking for info on the Holley 750 Double Pumper carburetors. I'm changing from a Rochester Qjet setup.

Specifically the 3310, 4150, 4160, and 4779.

I need to know which one is the best for my set up.

And weather I should add the Holley 112-96 base plate to it

I use a Edelbrock Performer manifuld.

I see a lot of 3310-3's around. Although I can get 3310-2 and 3310-4 pretty easy too. I don't know the specs of the 4779. Then theres the 0-80508 carb.

The engine I have it on right now is a pretty well built 350 with common parts. Normal every day pump gas is what I'm using.

Help picking out which carb I should use would help.

I'm definately not a carb guru by any shake of the imagination but I do know that the 3310 750 is a vac. secondary carb as is the 4160. I believe the 4150 can be had as a DP or SP depending on which model. The 4779 is a 4150 carb and per the book it is a DP.

Now that being said, if you have a lot of extra money for gas and a healthy engine that really needs that extra gas then just stick with a 3310. Set up PROPERLY it will give you all the performance your street 350 needs.

Same answer I posted to your question on the other forum.....

What would I do?

I'd send the Q-Jet to Cliff Ruggles to be tweaked for my motor. Then I'd bolt in on an Edelbrock Performer RPM Q-JET #7104 intake manifold.

In my opinion, there is no better carburetor to meter fuel for an internal combustion engine than the Rochester Quadrajet.

Why you would change from the best all around carb ever made is beyond me.

That said, a Holley carb can be a 4150 (w/secondary metering BLOCK) or 4160 (w/secondary metering PLATE).

A 3310 is a vacuum 2'ndary carb, the 3310-1 was a 4150, all the rest have been 4160's.
The 4779 is a 750 double pumper, and is a 4150.

If you're using this car for daily transpo, and have a mild cam, Performer intake, street gears and converter, forget the 3310.

Use a smaller vacuum 2'ndary carb- like the 1850 600 CFM vacuum 2'ndary 4160 carb. It's all the engine will likely ever need, unless you race it or for some reason run it to very high RPM's. It'll have better response and fuel mileage than the 750, due to the smaller primaries.

I'm using a stock 700R4. Ghanged it from a TH350. With a Ford 9" with a 28 spline. I tried to pick out a gear between 2.50 and 3.50. That range seemed to be pretty common in my research. Thinking about changing it to a 28 spline 3.70:1 though.

Manifold is the Edelbrock basic small block chevy 2101/2104.

Motor / block is a GM 3970014. I can give you other codes on the block.. or even the build sheet with the dyno numbers with my setup. I'm using stock GM 1.94 & 2.02 heads.

I've got a Comp Cam's camshaft in there.. 12-246-3 grind #XE274H-10.
I'm thinkin about chaning to the 12-325-4 or one of the others for the SBC.

Ok, so what about a Holley 650 Double Pumper.

These seem to be one of several carbs. The 4777 and the 6210.

Carb pics......

Unless you have a stout smallblock, like to run it hard, do yourself a favor, stick with the 600-650 range of carb, preferably the vac sec. You will get all the performance you will need......everyone thinks they HAVE to have a DP carb. If you are running a big cam, lots of compression, a LOT of gear and/or converter, then a DP is in the works. You have a mild smallblock, be wise.

Wow, the Quadrapukes are valuable now? I have a large box of all kinds of parts for them from over the years of modifying and trying to get them to do what I wanted....sounds like flea-bay fodder (gold).....lmao :p
