OK- I got this pix in my photobucket account, but for the life of me I don't remember the details about this engine other than I think it was a OEM built as shown. Can you I.D. it??.

Here's a good article on that engine. And no, it's NOT two V6s bolted together. Has it's own block and crank. The heads are shared with the V-6, as well as exhaust manifolds and maybe intakes, thought the intakes I've seen were unique to the V-12. Most dimensions, such as bore centers, bore, V angle (60*), etc. are the same so that many parts are interchangeable. The V-12 is based on the V-6 design, it's just not two V-6s bolted together.

There have been quasi V-12s and V-16s made that way, and I've even seen a quasi I-12 -- those are just two engines couple together driving a single transmission and timed together, but no manufacturer that I know of ever produced such a setup for a production vehicle.

No offense intended, but I hope you weren't referring to what i said, as I never said it was two v6s bolted together. I suppose I should have been more specific. However, from a displacement and design point of view, it is essentially two 351s put together. I believe it was even marketed as the "Twin Six". I would hope the four separate heads illustrate that to most people. You are most certainly correct that it has a crank and block unique to the 702, though.

Might have been your post, maybe another... anyway, I'm not offended if you aren't! You sure didn't say two V-6s bolted together, I just figured someone might take it that way.

I just like to make things real clear if they could have been read wrong or someone could have misunderstood. Lots of people who know nothing about cars read these forums, and there's enough misinformation around already! I could have worded my post better and made it clear that I was just clarifying.

I believe that's the same Briggs and Stratton I have on my lawnmower. I could be wrong.
