Really need some help, I just got a consew 226R and my thread keeps shredding. I am also having trouble getting the bobbin won't catch. I am new to industrial machines. any help and tips you have would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

1 is the needle correct size for the thread ?
2 is the needle installed correctly , scarf toward the hook .
3 is the bobbin installed correctly ? thread wound opposite to the cut in the case .
4 machine threaded correctly ?
5 machine out of time?
6 is the hook spacing correct ? [my consew 244 calls for about .030 inch or the thickness of a post card .]
7 are you holding the thread when you are starting to sew !!!
This was part of my self taught learning curve . Hope it helps .

Is the thread going through the thread guide at the bottom of the needle bar right above the needle? If not, that can cause the shredding, or if the guide is missing, replace it. Here's what the upper threading should look like.


The bobbin thread comes off the bobbin to the left, so it should look like the letter "P".
