Hi im looking to buy a 383 stroker that looks to be sitting for a while, at least from the photos it did, I would like to buy the motor and trans for my 73 Camaro that im building is there anything you guys could let me know to look for or check before I buy the motor that would be great thanks. P.S. its a built 350 trans for the motor just so you know.

Hear it run and unless they can produce documented proof it's a fresh build be prepared for a rebuild. I'm in the middle of a rebuild right now of a supposedly fresh built 383. Add up the value of all the parts such as heads intake and carburetor and don't give more than that unless they have proof of when it was built and offer a warranty, which may be worthless depending on who you are buying from.
I'm not an expert but I'm speaking as a person who just got burned on a engine. luckily I was able to salvage most of the parts and start over.
