My 226 has developed a slight bind. I can feel it turning the handwheel forward. when turning backwards no bind. Occasional broken top thread. Any ideas

Change the needle and see what happens. Sometimes it will get slightly bent and hit the opening on the foot.

I installed aa new needle and oiled the machine and seems the problem is gone. I have one question. Is the oil well below bobbin supposed to remain full of oil? Could not find any guidance in the manual

The Consew 226 is not self oiling, so there really is no oil well below the bobbin. Just put a couple drops of oil next to the bobbin, and it will end up where it needs to go.
