it has a 360 ford fe engine, the engine torque is great but speed sucks

Check the compression.....if it is 140-170 on all cylinders, it should be in good shape. Give it a tune up.

I gotta say, you've left a lot of room for speculation when you say the engine is "slow".

An FE engine will go like stink if it's built and tuned right. Soooo, I concur with the above. Give us some more Info. and maybe we can nail it down for you.

the 360 FE motors were TRUCK engines. designed for torque not rapid acceleration. Like any thing else with the right tuning it can run with the big dogs.

It is likely the truck engine, so you can expect that everything about it is geared for low-mid rpm torque pulling on low octane leaded fuel.

A little more cam and good exhaust wakes them up. Don't forget the ignition curve and electronic ignition on the 75-76 FE. After that, if you need more, then induction upgrades are in order.
