Hey All.
First off, thanks for your help so far in my Hemi quest.
Next, I got my engine home 2day and I was wondering if the 354 Hemi motor used a tranny adaptor between the block N tranny on the original motor? If not, I have an adapter that was in all my xtra parts I was givin. If its for an aftermarket tranny, can someone Id it for me if I give you the part #? Thanks, HG

in my 30 years of mopar experience i recall that the early hemis had a spacer when used with an automatic trans. The crank flange on those engines extended beyond th rear of the block and the old torque converters were quite deep. You just have to measure everything before you start bolting it together. Mopar Performance Chassis book has most of the dimensions you need. Good Luck--Mopar Or No-Car!!

I have a 1956 354 Hemi that has an original adapter plate between the block and bell housing. It cannot be taken off without removing the flywheel and torque converter. The plate is about 3/4" thick. If interested I have just removed the complete assembley including the original Auto transmission. It came out of a 56 300B. If you need parts let me know

Yes your hemi did use a spacer/adaptor between the block and the trans. The one you have, if its the stock one, won't be of any use unless you're going to bolt up an old push button torqueflight. You'll need a new adaptor if you want to use any of the modern GM or Chrysler aluminum torqueflight trans. They run about $375.
