Today I grabbed a Grant steering wheel brochure at the local parts store. I started looking through it and came across something pretty cool! Its a quick release steering wheel security kit. The idea is pretty simple, with no steering wheel you cant steel the car :) unless you tow it.

It looks like a good alternative to the club and products like that. I have seen videos where they cut the wheel with bolt cutters in about 20 seconds flat. Any thoughts on this would be appreciated.

A friend was an aftermarket parts sales rep here in the Houston area. He had a full size Blazer with all the bells and whistles from the aftremarket. When the new Grant demountable wheel was introduced he immediately got one and installed it on his Blazer. Religiously removed the wheel and put it in the bag and in his case every time he left the truck. Funny thing, the truck had never been messed with since he bought it. 6 months after installing the wheel he made asales call at a business in Houston's east side. Parked the truck at the foot of the stairs into the building in front of a big window. 30 minutes later he came up front , looked out the window and his truck was GONE!! They found it 3 month's later stripped, no seats, no tailgates, no doors, no motor, no transmission, no drivehsfat, no wheels & tires, no front sheet metal, BUT it did have that grant demoutable wheel hub still attached to the column and undamaged. The thieves had simply bought and carried a demountable wheel with them as part of their theft kit.
If those worthless excuses for human beings want your car or truck they will take it! No alarm, no Club, no steering wheel, no problem.

I can´t see how they did that, I have one and when I remove the wheel
a cap replaces it and is locked with a key.
It comes in handy for me to switch steering wheels, I have a small diameter Grant and for one day every year I mount a larger diameter wheel.
It´s to pass inspection

Bottom line is if you have something they want, they will take it. :pain:
When new security products come out, the thieves are half a step behind the industry.

Heck, the theives may be the industry! I always look twice when I see something marketed by a "former" thief. He may have changed his ways, but did he tell his buddies about his new product and how to get around it?

It should be legal to shoot knee caps off when you catch somebody messing with your car! Maybe they would think twice. Heck I think it is legal in Alabama... JK. :embarrass
