I was wondering how i would minimize the rattling in the trunk when i put it 2 12 inch subwoofers? I want alot of bass but i also don't want me car to sound like its gonna fall apart. i was also wondering about where to put my cd player? <img src="confused.gif" border="0">

The thing i like about old cars and new sterio systems is you get to use your imagination. Alot of people have cut out the opening on the stock sterio to allow a DIN sized unit. its one option but not if your looking for the vintage look. im about a year away from worring about sterio issues with my project. for the rattling...youll get that problem in most trunks...old or new. one thing you can do is turn it up till you hear the rattle and hunt em down one by one....and fix em either by tightening something or putting some sort of rubber insulation between metal parts the are rattling off eachother. also check the rear deck below your window...it may need to be glued or screwed down to the panel below.the springs on your trunk lid are also seseptable to rattle, along with your licence plate. as far as where to mount it you have several options like the one i stated at the begining. ive seen people put them in thier glove boxes which ads an extra element of secutity through obscurity. you caould also fabricate custom brackets and put it righ under the dash. ive seen a few comapnys that sell sterios that are new but have the exact dimentions as older ones with built in CD changer controllers. and ive even seen a wireless system that goes under your seat and is controlled by a remote with an LCD display built in. hope this helps a little.

look in the magazine crutchfield they sell all of your needs for stereo equipment and for ok prices too they sell sound proofing and insulation in rolls there for a cheap price that will stop all rattling you just need to get some carpeting to put over it and make your truck look nice

One thing I have found particularily with big subs is you need to go around the car and loctite (removable type) every single interior screw and fastener or they will constantly loosen over time, a drop of silicone adhesive works well too.

To keep the rattling down, you will definatly need sound proofing or just some interior mat against the sheetmetal, make sure your lisece plate has some mat behind it too because they rattle like crazy.

You can put your head unit anywhere you want to. you can leave the stock one in the dash and just disconect it and put your new one in the glove compartment, its custom and its pretty safe. under the dash, n the center consol, on the ceiling, you name it.

As for crutchfeild don't buy anything from them they will overcharge you. Look around on the internet compare prices. I myself use Apex audio, they have good prices and a huge selection.
