Hi Guys,

My wife and I are begining a project on a '79 Lincoln Town Car 4dr mild custom.

We plan to make the doors like the mid 60's Lincolns with the rear doors opening rearward. The problem is the bottom of the doors arch over the rear wheel well. This leaves only about 18" for the hinges. The doors are fairly heavy!!

Does anyone know of any heavy duty hinges that would work in this application?

Looking forward to your ideas!!!

you can get heavy duty hinges...but this isnt your main concern.

you have to make sure and beef up the door and body around the hinges like crazy because a heavy door like that with only a little distance between the hinges will exert a ton of force on the metal that the hinges and attatched to.

youll be fine if you just make it strong enough.
