Hi all,
This is my first post, i have been watching for a while but decided it was time to speak up. I have a 62 chrysler valiant ( australian ) and i want to suicide the rear doors.

The only problem is that where the hinges would mount is a curved section, ie it follows the curve of the wheel tub.

Is it possible to suicide these doors and if so how do i go about it??

Richard, anything is possible. mounting the rear doors suicide is alot of work with door such as this. Fabricating a hidden hinge system and installing it is alot of work. Its actually a pretty simple idea, just alot of work to get it done. You would just have to build a set of curved hidded hinges and mount them between the rear wheel well and the door jam. Dr. Chop has pictures a few post down on his scratch built hinges. The exact same idea, just curved.

The wheel tub is pretty much flush with the door jam, so there is no room to fit a set up like
dr chop, even if it was curved, unless you put it inside the wheel tub. I am thinking about making it a two door with suicide doors, as this would probably be easier. I don't know if it would suit the body style but. I am putting the car on air bags and will hopefully run 20 inch wheels.

Most definatly will be original. Nice choice if you were going for originality. with the right paint that car could really be cool.

You'll have enought room. After you remove the hinges in the front of the door you will gain a few inches to mount some hinges a bit recessed in the rear. It will not be very hidden but it will work. I've done it on a '64-4dr chebby. It can be done, if you can get some pictures of the rear door jam I can roughly show you how it can be done.
