Can you put heads from pontiac on chevy if they match up

Sure, if they matched up. Which they don't.

Only if the Pontiac has a chevy engine. Pontiac engines and chevy engines are completely different animals, but starting in 81-82, all Pontiacs started using chevy and Olds engines instead of pontiac engines.

What year is your Pontiac? If it's a newer car then it might have a Chevy 350 in it like Curtis73 said. If it's an older car then it'll probably have a Pontiac 350. Remember that Buick, Olds, and Pontiac all built 350s. Each was its own design independent from the other brands. Another little known fact is that back in the late '50s Plymouth actually built a 350 as well... I think it was in 1958.

If it's a Pontiac 400, maybe somebody put Pontiac 350 heads on it in order to increase the compression ratio. If they're 6X heads (common in '77), they could have come from a 350 or a 400. Here's how to tell: http://pontiacstreetperformance.com/psp/6XheadID.html
