i did a silly thing and allowed myself to listen to my know it all neighbor whos a master at auto repair and put rubber cement on my pan seal for my tranny, after a small seep/drip started to occur i noticed the seal started to pinch out and split at one side of the tranny, sooooooo my question to all the experts out there is how would i put a good rubber pan seal to my th400 so that i never have to worry about it leaking again ???


plain seal with no sealer ?
rtv sealer ?
silicon ?
other?

Don't use anything. Clean both surfaces with something like brake clean so there is no oil or grease and make sure both surfaces are dry. Make sure the pan flange is flat. Sometimes if the bolts have been over-torqued, the pan flange will deform at the bolt holes. Check around the bolt holes and flatten them back out if needed. Install the gasket and pan & torque. Torque is somewhere around 12-13ft lbs.
