I need help hooking up the white wire on my sunproIII tach. I have the green to tach on hei,black to ground and red to batt. on fuse box. what color is the wire that is for instrument cluster on 1981 chevy monte carlo?Is it any other wire to hook it to?

I assume your talking about the wire for tachometer illumination. If that is the case the wire you need to be looking for instrumentation illumination is usually gray on GM cars.

If the gray wire does'nt work for you. Turn the parking lights on and find it at the fuse block using a test light or the wires with it and hook into it so when you turn you lights on it will light up. I have plugged into the fuse block before just find the one that works when the lights are turned on and goes off when turned off. JMO. Cole
