I had a 73 le mans sport coupe back in 93. weighed 4000lbs. I called it my
2 ton sled! I had a 455cu in with 3 tube headers, accel coil, Tiny 600 holley,
shift kit in a th350, single point dist, 2:73:1 open rear end, and twin turbo muff's. Engine was stock. Despite all that was against it, it ran 9.20 consistently with 2.02 60ft times in the 1/8th mile. I just put on it what I had laying around in the garage. IF, I had put a larger carb, good rear gear's, opened up the header's, and a good HEI ingn. it probably would have got in the 8's. It was just getting wound up in second gear when I crossed the line. The engine came out of a 71 GP and replaced the 354cu in that came with the car.

My wagon weighed about 3800 lbs. Basically stock 396 with cast iron Q-jet manifold, Holley 650 spreadbore double pumper, Crane HT288 cam, Pro-Stock (brand) headers, GM rebuilt Vega converter, TH400 which I modified, Olds/Pont. HD carrier rear with 4.88 gears and square spider gears or a budget spool (also had a 6.14 for 1/8th mile - one had square spider gears the other had a budget spool - can't remember which was which), 9.00 x 29.5 x 15 Firestones screwed to 15 x 7 Chevy ralley wheels. Car ran 13 teens.

When I parked it to pay down the bills so I could go back to college and get my degree, I would occasionally race my tow vehicle. A 68 Suburban. I don't know how much it weighed, but I am guessing it fit your criteria. 73 454, off brand headers (even more so than the Pro-Stock brand on the wagon), HEI with a curve kit, o/w stock, stock TH400 converter, home made shift kit, factory 3.73 posi, some radials (can't remember the size) on Dan Gurney Victory Mags. Moby (she was white) ran low 15's driven to and from the track.

At one time I had a mercury station wagon that as I recall weighed something like 5300-5400 lbs with a 460, c-6..i did a nice valve job a fresh cam and lifters and installed a posi with 4.11 gears and a gear vendors overdrive..It would run low 14 high 13 and surprised some very racy kinds of cars. We used it as a tow car..
