I am changing a 3/4 ton chevy dually to an automatic, and I can not seat the torque convertor in the pump. I know that you have to spin it, but beyond that I am lost. Any help would be greatly apprectiated.

Make sure the right convertor is being installed.

It's pretty much a "feel" thing sometimes. I can tell you that you need to hold the convertor level (not let it hang on the input shaft/stator support). While holding it as square as possible, spin it while gently pushing in on it. Try wobbling it around a little while doing so. It's hard to explain, that's why I say it's kind of a feel thing. Sometimes it's easier to stand the tranny on end, but that's usually when you have a new bushing that is a little too tight or has a ding from installing.

Here is the quote from Ron Sessions' book on TH350 p.210:
"When the conveter is fully engaged, you won't be able to place your fingers between it and the front pump. With a straightedge and T-square, measure the distance from the converter-drive lugs to the converter-housing bolt flange. It should be at least 1 in."

I don't know what tranny you have. The key measurement is 1 inch. Make sure it is fully seated.
